Term: 6-year term—staggered.

Employees: Members receive no compensation but are paid expenses. Execu-
tive director exempted from the merit system. Md. Code Ann., art.
70B, § 3. At present, there are employed 4 merit and 5 unclassified
persons.

Function: Studies the problems of the aging in order to promote their
welfare in every manner possible. Cooperates with other agencies.

Governor's Committee for the Regulation and Study of Migratory
Labor in Maryland

Established By: Md. Acts of 1959, J.R. 9.

Head: Chairman appointed by the governor.

Members: Enumerated by the General Assembly. Committee of Health,
director of State Department of Welfare, State superintendent of
schools, Committee of Department of Labor and Industry, execu-
tive director of Department of Employment Security, director of
the Agricultural Extension Service, superintendent of Maryland
State Police, executive secretary of Maryland—Delaware Council
of Churches, a representative of the Catholic Rural-Life Conference,
executive secretary of the Tri-State Packers Association, secretary
of the Maryland Farm Bureau, Inc., secretary of the Maryland
State Grange, presidents of the Maryland State Fruit and Vege-
table Growers' Associations and secretary-treasurer of the Mary-
land State and D. C. AFL-CIO.

Term: Indefinite.

Removal: No provision in statute.

Employees: Members serve without salary.

Function: To develop and recommend standards to insure that out-of-state
farm laborers shall be imported, maintained and employed in Mary-
land under satisfactory conditions of housing, sanitation, health
and welfare.
