Maryland Commission on Interracial Problems and Relations
Established By: Md. Code Ann., art. 49B, § 1.
Head: Chairman designated by governor.

Members: 9 members appointed by governor with the advice and consent
of Senate.

Term: 6 years—staggered.
Removal: No provision in statute.

Employees: Executive Secretary appointed by governor. He is not under the
merit system. Md. Code Ann., art. 49B, § 2.

Function: Studies interracial relations and enforces anti-discrimination public
accommodations law and Fair Employment Practices Act.

Status of Women Commission

Established By: Executive Order, 1965.

Head: Chairman designated by the governor.

Members: 17, appointed by the governor.

Term: Indefinite.

Employees: None.

Function: To develop to the fullest extent the potential of the women of
Maryland; to find ways and means of utilizing the womanpower
of the State to the best advantage in the home and in the labor
force.

State Coordinating Commission on Problems of the Aging

Head: Chairman appointed by the governor from among 11 public
members.

Members: 17 members: 6 ex officio; 11 appointed by the governor. Ex officio:
director of State Department of Health, commissioner of the

the Department of Employment Security, and director of State
