Which was read the first time.

The President announced a communication from his Excel-
lency, Governor Swann, endorsed, "On Executive Business."

At 12 o'clock M., the Senators proceeded to the Hall of the
House of Delegates for the purpose of convening in Joint As-
sembly with that that body, for the election of United States
Senator.

The Senators at 1 o'clock, P. M., returned and resumed
the ordinary business of the session.

On motion of Mr. Mules,
The Senate adjourned until Monday morning at 11 o'clock.

MONDAY, January 21, 1867.

On motion of Mr. Stephenson, it was

Ordered, That the Committee on Judicial Proceedings, in-
quire what legislation is necessary, if any, to legalize the of-
ficial acts of such of the State assessors, as continued to act,
after the expiration of the time designated by law for the
close of said assessment, and that said committee report by
bill or otherwise.

Mr. Vickers, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported a bill entitled, an Act to repeal the 19th section of
the twenty-fourth Article of the Code of Public General Laws
title, "Conveyancing," and to re-enact the same with an
amendment;

Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Mules,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Mules, Kimmel and Philpot.,
to introduce a bill to prevent hogs from running at large in
twelfth district in Baltimore county;

On motion of Mr. Vickers,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
to report a bill to make valid the acts of certain Justices of
the Peace and Constables in the several counties, and city of
Baltimore.

On motion of Mr. Ohr,
