Ordered to lie over.

The Senate adjourned until to-morrow morning at 11
o'clock.

WEDNESDAY, March 20th, 1867.

On motion by Mr. Henkle,

Ordered, That the Chairman of the Committee on Claims,
issue his certificate to Benjamin Hopkins, for eighteen
days per diem, for services rendered as messenger and porter
to the Senate.

Whereas, The Legislature at this session of 1867, has
passed a law authorizing the Comptroller of the Treasury to
issue his warrant upon the Treasurer, for the sum. of four
hundred dollars in favor of Luther H. Gadd, for services ren-
dered; and

Whereas, The said Comptroller refused to issue his war-
rant upon the Treasurer for the amount so passed by the
Act of Assembly; therefore,

Be it Ordered by the Senate of Maryland, that William J.
Leonard, Comptroller of the Treasury, communicate immed-
iately the reasons why he refuses to obey the behest of the
Legislature; and be it

Further Ordered, That the Secretary send immediately a
copy to said Comptroller.
