674 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 19,

ferred the bill entitled, an Act to amend an Act incorporating
the Washington University of Baltimore, and to establish an
Hospital to be styled the Maryland Free Hospital, in said
city;
Reported it with the following amendment:

Amend by adding at the end of "section 4," "provided,
however, that nothing herein contained shall be construed as
an obligation upon the State to appropriate any sum of money
for the support of said Hospital unless it shall hereafter seem
expedient to the Legislature so to do;"
Which was read and adopted.

The bill was then read the second time, and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading;

On motion by Mr. Maddox, was

Read the third time by special order, three-fourths concur-
ring, and passed by yeas and nays as follow :

The vote by which the bill entitled, an Act to appropriate
a sum of money to purchase copies of a digest of the decisions
construing the statutes of Maryland of which the Code of
Public General Laws is composed, with references to the Acts
of Assembly by Lewis Mayer, and to regulate the distribution
of the same,

Was reconsidered;

The bill was then read the third time by special order, three-
fourths concurring and passed by yeas and nays as follow:
