of the Senate a Committee on Labor and Immigration, to
which all subjects properly appertaining, shall be referred.

The Chair thereupon appointed Messrs Bowie, Earle,
Maddox, Tome and Holton.

On motion of Mr. Stirling, it was

Ordered, That the President of the Senate be authorized to
appoint an Assistant Post Master to the Senate.

The President appointed as Assistant Post Master to the
Senate, Thomas J. Mules, of Baltimore city.

At 12 o'clock, M., the Senators proceeded to the Hall of the
House of Delegates for the purpose of convening in joint as-
sembly with that Body, for the election of United States
Senator.

The Senators at 1 o'clock, P. M., returned, and resumed
the ordinary business of the session.

Mr. Vickers, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported, without amendment, the bill to authorize the Gov-
ernor to appoint an additional Justice of the Peace for the 2d
and 3d Election Districts respectively, in Talbot county;

Which was read the second time, and by special order, the
third time, and passed by yeas and nays as follow:

Said bill was then returned to the House of Delegates.

Mr. Tickers, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported favorably, the bill entitled, an Act to change the
name of Ellenor Kate Purnell to Emma Catharine Purnell;

Which was read the second time, and by special order, the
third time and passed by yeas and nays as follow:
