of the case of School Commissioners of Baltimore city versus
the State Board of Education;

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Compton submitted the following order:

Ordered, That when the Senate adjourn, it adjourn to meet
at 10 o'clock, A. M., to-morrow.

Mr. Vickers moved to strike out "10 o'clock," and insert
"11 o'clock;"

Determined in the affirmative.

The Senate then adjourned until to-morrow, at 11 o'clock.

THURSDAY, January 17, 1867.

The President laid before the Senate, a communication from
the Baltimore and Havre de Grace Turnpike Company;

[See Document K.]
Which was read, and
Referred to the Committee on Internal Improvements.

Also, a communication from John W. Garrett, Esq., Presi-
dent of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road Company, in re-
sponse to an order of the Senate, adopted on the 8th Instant.

[See Document L.]
Which was read, and
On motion of Mr. Bowie,

Referred to the Committee on Internal Improvements, with
power to send for persons and papers.

The President laid before the Senate, the following com-
munication :

ANNAPOLIS, January 17, 1867.
Hon. C. C. Cox,

President of the Senate of Maryland.

Indisposition compells me to resign the position I hold, as
Doorkeeper to the Senate, for which I arn exceedingly sorry,
as I feel deeply grateful to the kindness of the Senate in. ap-
pointing me to the position.
