Purnell, to Emma Catherine Purnell;

Referred to Messrs. Vickers, Tome and Ohr.

A bill entitled an Act, to authorize the Mayor and Council-
men of the city of Cumberland to bridge the Potomac river,
and to issue bonds for that purpose;

Which was read the first time, and

Referred to Messrs. Ohr, Stephenson and Mules.

Mr. Bowie submitted the following message :

BY THE SENATE,

January 16, 1867.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We have received your message inviting the Senate to meet
your Honorable Body at 12 o'clock, M, to-day, for the pur-
pose of entering into the election of a United States Senator,
and respectfully concur therein.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of
Delegates.

At 12 o'clock, M., the Senators proceeded to the Hall of the
House of Delegates for the purpose of convening in Joint As-
sembly with that Body for the election of United State's- Sena-
tor.

The-Senators at 1 o'clock, P. M., returned and resumed the
ordinary busines of the session.

Mr. Compton from the Committee on Education reported
favorably, the bill entitled an Act, to authorize the levy of an
additional School tax in Washington county;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Vickers from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings
reported favorably the bill entitled an Act, to repeal an Act,
to add additional sections to Article 1, of the Code of Public
Local Laws for Allegany county, relating to the drawing
and summoning of Jurors, to be arranged under the head oi'
Jurors, in said county, passed at the session of the General
Assembly of 1865, chapter 11;

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Vickers from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings
reported favorably the bill entitled an Act, to amend an Act,
to add additional sections to Article 1, of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Allegany county, relating to the business of
the Circuit Courts and the summoning of Jurors in said coun-
