mittee on Elections be made the order of the day for Tuesday
22d instant, at 1 o'clock, P. M.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing message :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 16, 1867.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

The Act of Congress requiring the two Houses of the Gene-
ral Assembly to meet in joint session to hold an election for
United States Senator, in the event of a failure to agree upon
said election on the 2d Tuesday after the meeting of the Gene-
ral Assembly. And this House having complied with the
terms of said law at the session of yesterday, without a suc-
cessful result. We respectfully inform your Honorable Body
that we propose to hold a joint session of the two Houses in
this Hall, to-day at 12 o'clock, and invite the Senators to be
present.

Clerk.
Which was read.

Also, returned the bill entitled, an Act to add additional sec-
tions to Article — of the Code of Public General Laws Sup-
plemental Volume 2, title Small Pox ;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays."
And delivered the following bills :

A bill entitled an Act, to incorporate the Real Estate Fire
Insurance Company of Baltimore;

Which was read the first time, and
Referred to the Committee on Corporations.
A bill entitled an Act, to Incorporate the Chester Fruit
Packing Company;

Which was read the first time, and
Referred to the Committee on Corporations.

A bill entitled an Act, to refund taxes erroneously paid by
William Gilmor and Robert Gilmor, Jr., of Baltimore city,
into the State Treasury, and to the Register of Baltimore
city;

Which was read the first time, and

Referred to the Committee on Finance.

A bill entitled an Act, for the preservation of growing tim-
ber, in Washington county;

Which was read the first time, and
Referred to the Committee on Agriculture,
