Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, to which was
referred the bill entitled, an Act to appropriate a sum of
money to purchase copies of a digest of the decisions con-
struing the statutes of Maryland, of which the Code of Pub-
lic General Laws is composed, with references to the Acts of
Assembly by Lewis Mayer, and to regulate the distribution
of the same;
Reported it without amendment.
The bill was then read a second time.

The Senate of Maryland:
The Committee on Judicial Proceedings to whom was re-
ferred the order of the Senate, to inquire into the expediency
of providing by law for the summoning of juries to try ques-
tions of fact in equity proceedings, beg leave to report that
having duly considered the subject, they do not deem any fur-
ther legislation necessary, becaase Courts of Equity have now
the power which they have not failed to-exercise, when appli-
cation is made by either complainant or defendant, to send
any issues of fact which the parties may make up to be tried
before juries, in courts of law.

Code of Public General Laws, title Sheriffs, sub-title, Fines
and Penalties, and to re-enact the same with amendments,
Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an Act to alter, amend and add new sec-
tions to the Act of 1865, chapter 160, entitled, an Act to add
a new Article to the Code of Public General Laws to bo enti-
tled, Public Institutions, providing a uniform .system of free
public schools for the State of Maryland,
