AN ACT entitled, "An Act to appropriate twenty-
five thousand dollars for the erection of new
buildings and the enlargement of the present
buildings of the Maryland Penitentiary for the
accommodation of unemployed convicts, and to
authorize the Governor to purchase ground
adjacent to said Penitentiary and to improve the
same. |

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the sum of twenty-five thous-
and dollars be and the same is hereby appropri-
ated out of any money in the Treasury not other-
wise appropriated, to enable the Board of Direct-
ors of the Maryland Penitentiary to alter or ex-
tend the existing buildings or to erect new build-
ings of sufficient capacity for the accommodation
and employment of the convicts now necessarily
unemployed for want of said buildings, and the
Treasurer, on the warrant of the Comptroller, is
hereby authorized and directed to pay to the said
Board of Directors so much of said sum of twenty-
five thousand dollars as may be needed by them
for the above purposes from time to time. |

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from its passage. |
