Which was read the first time.

The bill entitled, an Act to authorize the purchase or con-
demnation of certain lands in the city of Annapolis, and in
Anne Arundel county, for the public use of the United States,
as part of the Naval Academy, and to cede to the United
States concurrent jurisdiction over such lands, and to exempt
the same from taxation ;

Was read the third time and passed by yeas and nays as
follow:

The Senate took up for consideration the bill entitled, an
Act to encourage immigration to the State of Maryland ;

The bill was then read a second time and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.

Mr. Earle moved that the rules be suspended to give the
hill a third reading by special order ;

On the question being put, it was
