780 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Peter Miller, James Tehan and Charles C. Lan-
caster citizens of Maryland and residents in Balti-
more city, by their petition to this General As-
sembly, have set forth that they have formed them-
selves into a society by the name of the Woodstock
College of Baltimore county for the purpose of
establishing a house of studies for young men in-
tended for the ministry of the Roman Catholic
Church, and for that purpose have purchased a
tract of land in Baltimore county, near Wood-
stock station, on the line of the Baltimore and
Ohio Railroad, and they have prayed for a special
act of incorporation; and whereas, in the judg-
ment of this General Assembly the object of said
corporation cannot be attained under the general
laws upon the subject; therefore,

tion.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the said John Early, Michael
0. Connor, Charles King, William F. Clarke, A.
M. Parasce, Peter Miller, James Tehan and Chas.
C. Lancaster and such other persons as may here-
after become members of the said corporation ac-
cording to the terms and conditions of their by-
law hereafter to beadopted, be and they are here-
by created and made a body corporate by the
name and style of the Woodstock College of Bal-
timore county, and by that name shall have per-
petual succession, and shall have all the powers
and authority conferred on corporations created
under the twenty-sixth Article of the Code of
Public General Laws so far as the same may be
applicable, and do all things that literary and
scientific corporations may do, and the said cor-
poration by its name aforesaid may purchase, hold,
sell, convey and transfer any real estate or other

come than thirty thousand dollars per annum.
