serves the right at all timers to alter, amend, or re-
peal the charter hereby created, and that this Act
shall take effect from the date of its passage. |

AN ACT to authorize and require the County
Commissioners of Allegany county to levy an
additional School Tax, as provided for in section
five of the eighth article of the Constitution of
this State. |

WHEREAS, At an election held on the sixth day
of November in the year eighteen hundred and
sixty-six, the people of Allegany county did, by
a large majority of the popular vote, express the
desire of said county for an additional school, as
provided for in section five of article eight of the
Constitution of this State; therefore, |

SECTION 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the County Commissioners of
Allegany county be and they are hereby author-
ized and required to levy, at the usual time of
making the county levy, an additional school-tax
of ten cents on each hundred dollars of the assess-
able property in said county, to be collected as
other taxes are now collected, and to be applied to
the support of the public schools and the building
of school houses in said county. |

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Col-
lector of Allegany county shall keep a separate
account of the receipts and payments on account
of said school tax in a book provided for that pur-
pose, showing at all times the amount of said
school tax in his hands. |

See. 3. And be it enacted, That the collector of
Allegany county shall and he is hereby authorized
and directed to pay to the Treasurer of the Board
of School Commissioners of said county, in quar-
