and required to pay out of the general levy of said
county to the Crier of the Circuit Court four dol-
lars per day for each day said court is in session
and said Crier in attendance upon said court,
which said per diem shall be in lieu of all other
compensation. |

AN ACT to incorporate and protect the "Poco-
moke Marine Railway Company." |
Preamble. |
V/HEREAS, William J. S. Clarke, Abraham A.
Crommer, William W. Melvin and James A. Mel-
vin, trading under the style and title of William
J. S. Clarke and company have erected a Marine
Railway on the Pocomoke River at Newtown,
Worcester county, for the purpose of hauling out
and repairing vessels; therefore, |
Incorporated. |
SECTION 1 Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the said William J. S. Clarke
and company are hereby declared to be a body
corporate and politic by the name, style and title
of the Pocomoke Marine Railway Company, and
by that name shall have perpetual succession, and
may sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, an-
swer and be answered unto in any Court of Law or
Equity in this State. |
Authority to
build piers and
wharves. |
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Marine
Railway Company shall have full power and au-
thority to build such piers and wharves for the use
or protection of said railway as they may deem |

shall not materially obstruct the navigation of
