hoist said centre boards or false keels as far as
may be necessary to prevent injury to said rail-
way, and no vessel shall knowingly anchor within
one hundred yards of said railway, unless com-
pelled to do so by stress of weather, and any ves-
sel failing to comply with the provisions of this
Act shall be liable to pay for all damages which
may accrue to said railway or any part thereof
by reason of such failure or neglect.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

In force.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the General
Assembly reserves to itself the right to alter,
amend or repeal this Act at pleasure.

CHAPTER 281.

AN Act to incorporate the Baltimore Soap Stone
Company.

Passed Mar.
22,1867.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the. General Assembly
of Maryland, That John Thomas Lester, Young
O. Wilson, William F. Richstein, James M. Les-
ter and William H. Pitcher, their associates, suc-
cessors and assigns, be and they are hereby created
a corporation and body politic, by the name and
style of the "Baltimore Soap Stone Company,"
and by that name may sue and be sued, answer
and defend in any court of law or of equity, and
may ordain and establish such by-laws, rules and
regulations as shall appear necessary for conduct-
ing the concern of said corporation, not contrary
to law, and the same change, alter and amend as
may appear proper, and may make and use, and
at pleasure change or renew a common seal, and
in general may do any act or thing necessary to
carry into effect the provisions of this Act, and
promote the design of the Company.

Incorporated.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted. That the objects of
said corporation are the quarrying, manufacturing
