and their successors, lands, tenements, rents, an-
nuities, bank and other stock, pensions and other
hereditaments in fee simple or for terms of years,
life, lives or otherwise, and also goods, chatties or
effects, of what nature, quality or kind soever by
gift, bargain, sale, demise or bequest of any per-
son, or persona, bodies corporate or politic, capa-
ble of making the same, and the same or any part
thereof at their pleasure to grant, alien, lease,
transfer or dispose of, in such manner as they shall
judge most conducive to the benevolent and chari-

table purposes of said fraternity; provided, always,
that the said corporation or body politic shall not
at any time hold or possess property, real) person-
al or mixed, exceeding in value the sum of fifty
thousand dollars.

Proviso.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corpo-
ration and their successors, by the name, style and
title aforesaid, shall have power to sue and be
sued, plead and be impleaded, answer and be ans-
wered unto, defend and be defended in. all or any
courts of justice, and before all or any judge, offi-
cers or persons whatsoever, in. all and singular ac-
tions, matters and demands whatsoever.

Corporate
powers.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said corpora-
tion and their successors shall have a common seal
for their use, and the same at their will and plea-
sure to change, alter and make anew, from time
to time as they may think best, and shall in gen-
eral have and exercise all such rights, privileges
and immunities as are incident or necessary to cor-
porations, and what may be necessary to the
corporation herein constituted) to enable it duly
and fully to execute all things touching and con-
cerning the design, and intent thereof, tor the be-
nevolent succor and relief of distressed persons,
and for the attainment of other equally landable
objects.

Bights and
privileges.

Sec. 4. And be it enacted, That the General As-
sembly reserves to itself the right to change, alter,
amend or repeal this Act at pleasure.

Reservation.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted. That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
