• AN ACT entitled, an Act to incorporate the Pre-
sident and Commissioners of the town of War-
wick. |
Incorporated |
• SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the citizens of Warwick in
Cecil county, are a body politic, by the name of
the President and Commissioners of the town of
Warwick, and as such, may sue and be sued, and
do all other acts as natural persons; may purchase
and hold real, personal and mixed property, and
dispose of the same for the benefit of said town,
and may have and use a common seal, which may
be broken and altered at pleasure. |
Electors. |
Sec. 2. Be it enacted, That all white male in-
habitants of said town, above twenty-one years of
age, who shall have bona fide resided in said town
for the space of six months and twelve months in
this State, next preceding the election shall, on
the first Monday in May in each year) elect three
judicious and discreet persons, who shall have re-
sided within the limits of the said town for at least
twelve months preceding the election as Commis-
sioners for said town.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That all such elec-
tions shall be held and conducted as shall, from
time to time be directed by the by-laws of the Cor-
poration, not inconsistent with the provisions of
this article. |
Vacancies. |
Sec. 4. And be it enacted. That if any of the
Commissioners during the year for which he may
be elected, shall die, resign, remove from said
town or be otherwise disqualified, an election to
fill such vacancy shall be held, at which all per-
sons qualified to vote, as herein before mentioned,
shall be entitled to vote. |
Failure to
elect. |
Sec. 5. Be it enacted, That if the inhabitants
of said town shall, at any time, neglect to make
an election at the time herein mentioned, the pow-
er of electing Commissioners shall not cease, but
the right and power of said inhabitants in that re- |
