Which was read the first time and referred to the Baltimore
city Senators.

A bill entitled, an Act to amend an Act to add additional
sections to Article first of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Allegany coonty, relating to the business of the Circuit
Courts, and the summoning of Jurors in said county, passed
at January Session, 1866, of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, chapter 138, and re-enact the same aa amended ;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Com-
mittee on Judicial Proceedings.

A bill entitled, an Act to add additional sections to Ar-
ticle 1st of the Code of Public Local Laws of Allegany conn-
ty, relating to the drawing and summoning of Jurors, to be
arranged under the head of Jurors, in said county, passed at
the session of the General Assembly of 1865, chapter 11 ;

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Judicial Proceedings.

To-day being the second Tuesday after the meeting and or-
ganization "of the Legislature of this State," chosen next
preceding the expiration of the term for which the Hon. J. A.
J. Creswell was elected to represent this State in the Con-
gress of the United States ;

Mr. Earle moved to suspend the rules to proceed to the
election of United States Senator ;

Determined in the negative.

Mr. Earle then moved to postpone the ordinary business to
proceed to the election of United States Senator ;

Determined in the affirmative.

The Clerk then proceeded to call the roll, with the follow-
ing result:

Mr. Billingslea voted for J. A. J. Creswell, of Cecil county.

" Bowie voted for James T. Earle, of Queen Anne's
county,

" Brodwater voted for Samuel Hambleton, of Talbot
county.

" Compton voted for P. F. Thomas, of Talbot county.

" Davis, of Caroline, voted for J. A. J. Cresswell, of Ce-
cil county.

" Davis, of Washington, voted for J. A. J. Creswell, of
Cecil county.

" Earle voted for William H. Neale, of Queen Anne's
county.

" Frazier voted for H. H. Goldsborough, of Talbot
county.
