city.

" Maddox voted for P. F. Thomas, of Talbot county.
" Mules voted for R. B. Carmichael, of Queen Anne's

county.

" Ohr voted for J. A. J. Creswell, of Cecil county.
" Philpot voted for J. A. J. Creswell, of Cecil county.
" Stephenson voted for J.W. Crisfield, of Somerset county.
" Stirling voted for G. R. Dennis, of Somerset county.
" Tome voted for J. A. J. Creswell, of Cecil county.

From which it appeared that John A. J. Creswell, of Ce-
cil county, received eight votes; that James T. Earle, of Queen
Ann's county, received two votes; that Samuel Hambleton,
of Talbot county, received three votes; that Richard B. Car-
michael, of Queen Ann's county, received two votes; that
Philip F. Thomas, of Talbot county received two votes; that
William H. Neal, of Queen Ann's county, received one vote;
that Christopher C. Cox, of Baltimore city, received one vote;
that Henry H. Goldsborough, of Talbot county, received one
vote; that E. F. Chambers, of Kent county, received one
vote; that John W. Crisfield, of Somerset county, received
one vote; and, that George R. Dennis, of Somerset county,
received one vote.

So it appeared that no person had received a majority of
all the votes cast in the Senate.

Mr. Maddox, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported without amendment, the bill entitled, an Act to re-
peal the seventy-fourth section of the thirty-fifth Article of
the Code of Public General Laws, relating to the election of
United States Senator, by inserting in 3d line after the
word Senator, "the following words, 'and to enact another
provision in lieu thereof;"

Mr. Ohr submitted the following amendment :

Section two, line third, strike out sixty and "insert nine-

ty;"

Determined in the negative.
