CHAPTER 161.

29, 1867.

AN ACT to authorize London Park Cemetry to
make and enforce calls or assessments upon its
capital stock.

Authority to
make assess-
ments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the President and Mana-
gers of London Park Cemetry Company be, and
they are hereby authorized and empowered to
make such calls or assessments upon the capital
stock of the said company as they or a majority of
them may deem necessary for the discharge of the
indebtedness of the said company, not, however,
exceeding in whole the sum of twenty dollars per

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Pre-
sident and Managers, or a majority of them, be,
and they are hereby authorized and empowered to
provide for the time and manner in which the said
calls or assessments, and instalments of the same,
if made collectable in instalments, shall be paya-
ble.

Power to sell
in case of fail-
ure to pay,

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That if any person
or persons shall fail to pay any instalment, assess-
ment or call, within thirty days after he or they shall
have been notified of such call, assessment or in-
stalment, by notice loft at his or their usual place
of business or abode, or mailed to said party
through the post office, then the said President
and Managers may sell the stock of such delin-
quent or delinquents, or so much thereof as may
be necessary to pay such assessment, call or instal-
ment with all costs and expenses of such sale or
sales, upon such terms as they or a majority of
them may deem best, having first given at least
one week's notice of the place, manner and terms
of sale, the name of the delinquent and the ob-
ject of the sale, by publication in at least two of
the daily papers published in the city of Balti-
more, said notice to be published on three several
days, provided that three-fourths of the stock
held by persons residing in the State of Maryland
shall, by their votes, declare that the said stock
shall be sold.
