The bill was then read the second time.

Mr. Vickers from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
to which was referred the bill entitled, a supplement to an
Act passed at January session, 1852, entitled, an Act to in-
corporate the Santa Clara Mining Association of Baltimore,
authorizing said association to make and enforce payment of
calls or assessments upon its capital stock;

Reported it without amendment,

The bill was then read the second time.

Mr. Vickers from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
to which was referred the bill entitled, an Act to alter and
amend an Act entitled, an Act to add a new Article to
the Code of Public General Laws, to be entitled, Public
instruction, providing a uniform system of free Public
Schools for the State of Maryland, and to repeal all existing
laws inconsistent therewith passed at January session 1865;

Reported it without amendment,

to which was referred the bill entitled, an Act to add a sec-
tion to Article 75, of the Code of Public General Laws, enti-
tled Pleadings, Practice and Process, to enable parties to plead
over, without withdrawing their demurrers;

to which was referred the bill entitled, an Act exempting
rom execution, and other final process of law, except distress
for rent, property in the State of Maryland, to the value of
two hundred dollars;

Mr. Vickers from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
to which was referred the bill entitled, an Act to authorize
the purchase or condemnation of certain lands in the city of
Annapolis, and in Anne Arundel county, for the public use
of the United States, as part of the Naval Academy, and to
cede' to the United States concurrent jurisdiction over such
lands and to exempt the same from taxation ;

Reported it without amendment,

The bill was then read the second time.

Mr. Vickers from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
to which was referred the bill entitled, an Act to repeal sec-
tion 39, of Article 20, of the Code of Public Local Laws, en-
titled, Talbot county, and to re-enact the same;
