Baltimore city, praying for the passage of an Act, "to piotect
the farming and agricultural interests;"

Which was read, and

Referred to the Committee on Agriculture.
On motion of Mr. Stirling, it was

Ordered, That the Secretary of the Senate be instructed to
procure Racks, to be affixed to the desks of Members of the
Senate, for holding books, &c.

On motion of Mr. Trail, it was

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that if Mr.
Trail and Mr. Tome had been present when the vote was taken
on the Resolutions approving the course of President Johnson
and Governor Swann, they would have voted in the negative.

On motion of Mr. Holton, it was,

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that had H.
B. Holton, Mr. Philpot and Mr. Ohr, been present when the
Resolutions were offered endorsing President Johnson and
Governor Swann, they would have voted in the negative.

On motion of Mr. Maddox, it was

Ordered, That the Committee on Elections be authorized
to have printed for the use of the Senate, ———— copies of the
testimony in the contested election case of Alfred Spates, vs.
Charles H. Ohr.

On motion of Mr. Maddox,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to report a
bill, for the relief of W. T. Maddox, for services rendered the
State by order of the Convention of 1850.

On motion of Mr. Billingslea,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Billingslea, Vickers and
Henkle, to introduce a bill, prohibiting the sale of intoxica-
ting drinks, in and around Fallstown, Harford county, for
the space of three miles.

On motion of Mr. Young,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill, entitled an Act, to incorporate the Andrew
Small Academy, of Darnstown, Montgomery county, Md.

On motion of Mr. Young,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to report
a bill, entitled an Act, to authorize the repayment to L. T.
Hyatt, late collector of State taxes in Montgomery county,
of the sura of seventy-seven dollars and six cents ($77.06)
being an over payment by him into the Treasury.
