AN ACT to repeal an Act, passed at January ses-
sion eighteen hundred and sixty-four, Chapter
one hundred and five, entitled an "Act to re-
peal sections forty-two and forty-three of Article
sixty-six of the Code of Public General Laws,
relating to Manumission," and to enact a sub-
stitute therefor, providing for the Manumission
of Slaves, and also to repeal sections forty-two
and forty-three of Article sixty-seven of the
Code of Public General Laws, title "Negroes".
and sub-title "Free Negroes and Manumis-
sion." |

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Act passed at the January
session, eighteen hundred and sixty-four, chapter
one hundred and five, entitled an Act to repeal
sections forty-two and forty-three of Article sixty-
six of the Code of Public General Laws, relating
to Manumission, and to enact a substitute
therefor, providing for the manumission of slaves,
and sections forty-two and forty-three of Article
sixty-six of the Code of Public General Laws,
title "Free Negroes," and "Manumission," which
prohibits manumissions by Deed or Will, and to
authorize any free negro to renounce his freedom
in open Court and become a slave for life, be, and
the same are hereby severally repealed. |
Sections re-
pealed. |
Sec. '-'. And be it enacted. That 'this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage. |
