AN ACT to repeal Section ninety-nine of Article
thirty, of the Code of Public General Laws,
title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-title
"Larceny," and to re-enact the same with
an amendment. |

re-enacted. |
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That section ninety-nine of Article
thirty of the Code of Public General Laws, en-
titled "Crimes and Punishments," sub-title
"Larceny," and which relates to the stealing of
any negro or slave and of being accessory thereto,
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted
with an amendment to read as follows : |

certain crimes |
Sec. 99. Every person who shall be convicted
of the crime of stealing any ship, sloop or other
vessel of seventeen feet keel or upwards, out of any
place within the body of any county, or on the
Chesapeake Bay within the jurisdiction of the
State of Maryland, and not within the body of any
county; or of the crime of counselling, hiring,
aiding or commanding any person to commit eith-
er of said offences, or of the crime of being acces-
sory thereto, shall restore the vessel to the owner
thereof or pay him the full value thereof, and also
be sentenced to the Penitentiary for not more than
twelve years, nor less than eighteen months. |

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage. |
