1867.] OF THE SENATE. 401

Amend section 1 by striking out all after the enacting
clause and inserting the following :

"That the Comptroller be, and he is hereby directed to is-
sue his warrant on the Treasurer, to pay to the order of Da-
vid C. Blockson, Esq., the sum of one hundred and forty
dollars, and to the order of J. W. Bryant, Esq., the sum of
one hundred dollars, the same to be in full of their services
to the State in prosecution of the aforesaid case ;"

Which was read and adopted.

Mr. Earle submitted the following amendment:

Amend title of bill by striking out the word Esq., in first
line, and inserting after the name Blockson, the word J. W.
Bryant, Esqs.;

Which was read and adopted.

The bill was then read the second time, and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.

On motion by Mr. Earle,

The rules were suspended, and the bill read the third time
by special order, and passed by yeas and nays as follow :

Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Labor and Immigration,
reported favorably a bill entitled, an Act to encourage Immi-
gration to the State of Maryland;

Which was read the first time.

The bill entitled, an Act to compensate Joseph M. Palmer
for services rendered the State in the cases of State vs. George
Otto and George Hape;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an Act to make valid deeds executed and
acknowledged since the first day of November 1864, before
the Justices of the Peace in any county in this State where
the grantors resided, or where lands are situated;
