The First begaa on the third Monday of January, 1866,
and closed on the third Monday of February following.

The Second began on the third Monday of March, 1866,
and closed on the third Monday of May following.

The Third began on the third Monday of June, 1866, and
closed on the third Monday of September following.

The Fourth began on the third Monday of November,
1866, and closed on the third Monday of December follow-
ing; and during the continuance of each of said terms, his
Honor, Judge Brent, transacted a considerable amount of
Equity business at his home in Charles county, when not on
the bench here.

Special Judges occupied the bench at intervals during the
period named in your order, for the trial of cases submitted
to them respectively, according to law.

Dear Sir:—In compliance with the order passed by the
House of Delegates on Thursday the 18th inst., and your
favor of the same date, which is just received, I have the
honor to reply that for equity and other purposes, our Cir-
cuit Court is considered in session every day except Sunday's,
Fourth of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas, whether his
Honor, the Judge, be present or not, at which time business
is transacted when necessary, either at the court house or at
the judges chamber, and therefore it is impossible to answer
