On motion by Mr. Stirling,
The Senate adjourned until to-morrow, at 11 o'clock.

FRIDAY, March 1st, 1867.

The President laid before the Senate the petition of Thom-
as R. Mathews, and other citizens of Baltimore county, pray-
ing the re-appointment of Charles Peregoy as Justice of the
Peace for said county;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Execu-
tive Nominations.

Mr. Bowie presented the petition of J. Dyer, & Co., of Bal-
timore city, to be refunded money illegally paid into the
State Treasury on account of the storage of tobacco;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. Frazier presented the petition of the working men ot
the factories of Woodbury, Clipper, Mount Washington,
Park Mill, and Mount Vernon, asking the General Assembly
to enact a Law, making ten hours a legal day's work;

Which was read and referred to the committee on Ju-
dicial Proceedings.

Mr. Holton presented the petition of 64 citizens of Howard
county, asking protection for the tobacco growing interests of
Howard, Carroll and Frederick counties, and praying the
appointment of an Inspector for the same;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Execu-
tive Nominations.

Mr. Stephenson presented the memorial of 18 citizens of
Hartord county in favor of granting a private road to William
S. Bowman of said county;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judi-
cial Proceedings.
