Mr. Compton presented the petition of George D. Mudd,
Mason L. McPherson, Wm. Boswell, and twenty other citi-
zens of Charles county, asking that magistrate's fees may be
continued as they are at present;
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judi-
cial Proceedings.
On motion by Mr. Billingslea,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Billingslea, Tome and Bow-
ie, to introduce a bill to repeal section 8, of the article 30 , of
Public General Laws entitled, "Crimes and Punishments,"
and to re-enact the same with amendments, extending the
provisions of said section to Somerset, Washington and Car-
roll counties;
On motion by Mr. Stirling,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings, to introduce a bill to repeal section 58, of article 88, of
Public General Laws, title, Sheriffs, sub-titled, fines and
penalties, and to re-enact the same with amendments.
The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing bills:
A bill entitled, an Act to repeal sections 806, 807, 808,
809,810,811,812,813, 814,815,816, 817,818, 819,820,
821 and 822 of article 4, of the Code of Public Local Laws of
the city of Baltimore, and the additional articles adopted by
the Act of the General Assembly, passed at the session of
1860, chapter 6, the additional sections adopted by the Act of
the General Assembly, at the session of 1860, chapter 46, the
additional sections adopted by the Act of the General Assem-
bly, passed at the session of 1864, chapter 42, the additional
sections adopted by the Act of the same session of 1864,
chapter 244, and the 3rd section of the Act of the session off
1865, chapter 46, for the establishment of a Police force for
the city of Baltimore, and to re-enact with amendments;
Which was read the first time, and referred to the Com-
mittee on Judicial Proceedings.
A bill entitled, an Act to enable the Directors of the Ma-
ryland Institution for the instruction of the blind, to com-
plete and render fit for occupation, the building now in
course of erection, in Baltimore county;
Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Judicial Proceedings.
A bill entitled, an Act to amend and re-enact section 52, of
article 8, of the Code of Pnblic Local Laws, relating to the
time of holding the terms of the Circuit Court for Cecil coun-
ty;
