Judges said there was nothing against me.

Cross-examined by Mr. Brown.

1st Question. Why did you not register before ?

Answer. Because I did not wish to.

2d Question. Can you name any persons who were intimi-
dated?

Answer. I cannot.

3d Question. Did you take any part in the late war ?

Answer. I did not, staid at home, minded my business,
paid my taxes, &c.; and furnished no aid or comfort to the
enemies of the United States.

Deposition No. 4.

HENRY THOMPSON, being duly affirmed, deposed and said as
follows, to wit: :

By Mr. Devecmon:

1st Question. What is your name, age, residence and oc-
cupation?

Answer. My name is Henry Thompson, age 45, reside in
Ryan's Glades, District No. 10, Allegany county, and by oc-
cupation a farmer.

2nd Question. Were you registered as a voter prior to
November 6,, 1866 ?

Answer. I was registered last Fall, prior to November 6,
1866.

3rd Question. Did you or not attend the election held in
Allegany county November 6, 1866; and if so, did you offer
to the Judges of Election a ticket as your ballot, and was it
received or rejected, and whose names were on said ticket as
candidates for the House of Delegates ?

Answer. I did attend eaid election, and offered my ticket
to said Judges. It was rejected; and the names of the par-
ties for candidates for House of Delegates were, Patrick Ham-
mill, William Devecmon, George W. McCulloh, William A.
Bryden and John McElfish.

4th Question. Were there any armed men at the polls?

Answer. There were, but don't know their intentions, as
they said nothing to me.

5th Question. Did they intimidate voters ?
