Depositions taken before me, John B. Widener, a Justice
of the Peace of the State of Maryland, in and for Allegany
county :

Be it remembered, and I hereby certify that William De-
vecmon, William A. Bryden, John McElfish, and Patrick
Hamill, above named filed with me, Justice as aforesaid, a
notice, certificate and affidavit, marked "Contestant's Exhibit
A," which I herewith return as part of this record.

EXHIBIT A.

To William H. McCulley, Samuel M. Haller, Daniel G. Bruce,
and Col Charles Gilpin.

Gentlemen,:—Notice is hereby given that it is the intention
of the undersigned to contest your election for the House of
Delegates, for the State of Maryland.

We shall proceed to take testimony at such time and place
as shall hereafter be designated, and agreed upon by John B.
Widener, a Justice of the Peace, of the State of Maryland,
in and for Allegany county.

Dated the 16th day of November, 1866.
