with each of them a written copy of gaid notice.

STATE OF MARYLAND,

ALLEGHANY COUNTY, to wit:

I hereby certify that on the 2d day of January, in the year
1867, before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace of the
State of Maryland, in and for Alleghany county, personally
appeared Daniel Duncan, Sheriff of Allegany county, and
made oath in due form of law, that the facts stated in the
above certificate are true as therein stated.

Given under my hand and seal this second day of January,
1867.

And be it further remembered, that said William, Devec-
mon, William A Bryden, John McElfish and Patrick Ham-
mill, applied to me, John B. Widener, Justice as aforesaid,
to take testimony in the above entitled case, and I thereupon
issued the following notice to wit:

To William R. McCulley, Samuel M. Holler, Danid C, Bruce,
and Col. Charles Gilpin.

Gentlemen:—Notice is hereby given that it is the intention
of the undersigned to contest your election for the House of
Delegates, for the State of Maryland.

We shall proceed to take testimony at such time and place
as shall hereafter be designated, and agreed upon by John B.
Widener, a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland, in
and for Allegany county.
