The Committee of Conference of the two Houses upon the
bill entitled, an Act making appropriations for the support of
the Government for the year ending on the first day of Jan-
uary, 1868, made the following report :

To the Honorable General Assembly of Maryland.

The Joint Committee of Conference, to which was referred
the General Appropriation bill for the year 1867, beg leave
to report that they concur in recommending the following
amendments in lieu of the 4th amendment proposed by the
Senate : "Contingent Fund" for the Lieutenant Governor,
and Speaker of the House of Delegates, one thousand dollars,
to defray their expenses while acting as members of the State
Board of Education, (to be inserted in line 2, page 4, after
the word "dollars"). That they recommend the following
amendment in lieu of 5th amendment proposed by the, Sen-
ate : Strikeout "two" and insert "four" before the word
"hundred." That the Senate recedes from the 6th and 7th
amendments proposed by it. That they recommend the fol-
lowing amendment in lieu of the 8th amendment proposed
by the Senate: Strike out "ten thousand," and insert
"seven thousand five hundred dollars." That the Senate
recedes from the 10th amendment. The committee agree to
recommend the striking out of one thousand dollars, and to
substitute eight hundred dollars, on page 7, after the word
"immigration," in lieu of the 11th amendment proposed by
the Senate.

The 13th amendment proposed by the Senate, the commit-
tee recommend to be striken out and the following substituted
therefor : "To the Assistant Librarian, four hundred dollars
in addition to the amount of $600 to be paid out of the Li-
brary Contingent Fund."

The 14th amendment proposed by the Senate, the commit-
tee recommend the striking out the words "three thousand"
between the word "Baltimore" and the word "dollars," in
the 4th line from the bottom of the third page, and insert in
lieu thereof "fifteen hundred."

Also, the striking out the words "three thousand" be-
tween the word "Baltimore" and the word "dollars" in the
third line from the bottom and inserting in lieu thereof "fif-
teen hundred," '
