The question then recurring upon the order offered by Mr.
Nicolai,

Mr. Davis, of Charles, proposed the following amend-
ment :

Strike out all after the word "that," and insert, "the
chairman of the Committee on Claims be directel to issue his
certificate to the officers of the House for each day's attend-
ance on the same at $5 per diem, this not to apply to the
Chief, Reading, and Assistant Clerks of the House."

Which was adopted.
