Mr. Clarke, Chairman of the Committee on Claims, re-
ported unfavorably, from majority of the Committee, on the
memorial of the sureties on the Sheriff's bond of Eli S. Bald-
win, deceased;
Also, reported back the memorial of John A. Thomson,
late Register of Baltimore city, for compensation;
And asked to be discharged from the further consideration
thereof;
Report concurred in, and Committee so discharged.
The resolution in relation to the settlement of the account
of John M. Walker being upon a second reading,
Mr. Clarke proposed the following amendment, being a
substitute therefor:
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
application of John M. Walker for the release of the securities
on his official bond, as late Notary Public of Baltimore jetty,
be referred to the Comptroller and Treasurer, and they are
hereby empowered to settle his accounts and give a final
release to him and his sureties, upon the payment of the
sum of three thousand four hundred and sixty-two dollars;
Which was read- a first, and by special order, a second
time, and
Passed by yeas and nays as follow:
