Mr. Young presented the memorial of John Thomas and
fifty-four citizens of Carroll, Howard, Frederick and Mont-
gomery counties, praying your Honorable Body to take under
consideration, their interest in the growth of Tobacco;

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Young, Vickers
and Tome.

Mr. Young presented the petition of Reuben A. Harley and
others, praying an Act to incorporate the Independent Order
of Odd Fellows, Lodge No. 100, in Clarksburg, Montgomery
county, Md.;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpora-
tions.

Mr. Maddox presented the petition of the school commis-
sioners of St. Mary's county, for increase of salary;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.

Mr. Mules presented the memorial of Asa G. Smith and
99 other citizens of Baltimore, praying the removal of a cer-
tain toll gate on the Frederick Turnpike Road.

Which was read and referred to the committee on that
subject.

Mr. Trail presented the petition of John E. Hargett, Hun-
sen Y. Rudy and 60 other citizens of Frederick county, pray-
ing relief against the illegal tolls and charges of the Balti-
more and Frederick Turnpike Company;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on that
subject.

Mr. Stirling presented the memorial of John Coates, Web-
ster Laurence Thomson and others, asking an appropriation
for a monument at Loudon Park Cemetery;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. Tome presented the memorial of John J. Heckert, of
Cecil county;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. Compton moved that fifty copies of said memorial be
printed.

Mr. Tome moved to strike out "50," and insert "1000."
Mr. Compton accepted the amendment.
The motion of Mr. Compton was then adopted.

Mr. "Vickers psesented the petition of James Beck, (of
George,) and 15 other tax payers, for an Act to levy a tax on
