and 17 other tax payers of Kent county, for an Act to levy a

On motion by Mr. Maddox, it was
Ordered, That the Committee on Claims, pay the expenses
incurred by the Joint Committee appointed by the Legislature,
to visit the benevolent institutions of the State.

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduee a bill to incorporate a company to construct a rail-
road from some eligible point in Prince George's county,
through the counties of Prince George's, Charles and St.
Mary's, to Point Lookout.
On motion by Mr. Mules,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Internal Improve-
ments to introduce a bill to allow the Merchants Union Tele-
graph Company, of New York, the privilege to extend their
lines of Telegraph through the State of Maryland.

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill to incorporate Clarksburg Lodge No. 100, of the
Independent Order of Odd Fellows, in Montgomery county.

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to legalize the acts of George W.
Ritter, a Justice of the Peace of Baltimere county, done by
him in the city of Baltimore, as such justice since the 1st day
of January, 1859.
On motion by Mr. Davis, of Caroline,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Education to in-
troduce a bill to repeal section 2 of chapter 3, title "School
House Sites," of the act of 1865, chapter 160 entitled, an
act to add a new article to the Code of Public General Laws
to be entitled, Public Instruction, providing a uniform sys-
tem of free public schools for the State of Marylan'd, to re-
peal all existing laws inconsistent therewith, and to re-enact
