Means, reported favorably a bill entitled, an Act to provide
for the suffering inhabitants of the Southern States.

Mr. Lankford, from Select Committee, reported favorably
a bill entitled, an Act to authorize Littleton Harris, of Som-
erset county, to clean his oyster bedding grounds at his
landing, in Wicomico River, with scrape or dredge.

Mr. McCulley, from Select Committee, reported favorbaly
a bill entitled, an Act to incorporate Sheffer Lodge No. 25,
Independent Order of Good Templars of Cumberland, Mary-
land,

Which were severally read a first time.

Mr. Neale, from Select Committee, reported favorably,
without amendment, the Senate bill entitled, an Act to au-
thorize the School Commissioners of Queen Anne's county
to dispose of a, part of a school,

Which waa read a second time.
On motion of Mr. Carmichael,

The Committee on the Judiciary were discharged from the
further consideration of the petition of two hundred and
forty-two citizens of Baltimore, praying the passage of a law
making eight hours a legal days' work.

Also, the petition of one hundred and fifty other citizens of
Baltimore upon the same subject, which,

Upon motion of Mr. Boswell,

Were referred to Messrs. Boswell, Steiner, Knott, Whita-
ker and Williams.

Also, trom the petition of forty-five gas consumers of, the
city of Annapolis, praying such amendment in the charter
of the Annapolis Gas1 Light Company as will cause a reduc-
tion in the present price of gas.

Also, from the petition of Drs. N. R. Smith, Chris. John-
son and others, praying the passage of a law to prevent un-
lawful abortion.

Also, from the petition of sundry citizens of Annapolis ask-
ing for a modification of the local liquor law for that city so as
to impose a penalty on minors who obtain liquor by repre-
senting themselves to be of full age.
