No. 25, of the Independent Order of Good Templars of Cum-
berland, Md.

On motion of Mr. Clarke,

Leave for Committee on Claims to report bills to com-
pensate persons for publishing the laws and for services ren-
dered the State.

Mr. Wilson submitted the following resolution :

Resolution granting pensions to Thomas C. Clements,
Clement Standiford, John Weaver, and David R. Whitely.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Comptroller be and he is hereby directed to issue his war-
rants to the Treasurer, directing him to pay, in quarterly
instalments, the sum of eighty dollars a year to each, of the
following persons—aged soldiers of the war of 1812—David
R. Whitely of Baltimore city, Clement Standiford of Balti-
more county, Thomas C. Clements of Prince George's county,
and John Weaver of Baltimore city, and said quarterly pay-
ments shall commence from the passage of this resolution,

Which were read a first time, and,
On motion of Mr. Calvert,

Three-fourths of all the members concurring,

Ordered to a second reading.

Being upon a second reading,

Mr. Clark proposed the following amendment:

Insert the names of John Bond and John Cahouu of Balti-
more county ;

Which was adopted.

Mr. McCulley proposed the following amendment:

Insert the name of George Metts of Allegany county ;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Appleman proposed the following amendment:

Insert the name of John Harrington, of Washington
county ;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Baker proposed the following amendment:

Insert the names of Samuel Gleison, Liberty district, Ja-
cob Deeter, Frederick city, Jacob Smith of M., Frederick
county.

Pending the consideration of which,

Mr. Magruder moved the previous question,

Which was not sustained,

The question then recurred upon the amendment, proposed
by Mr. Baker.

Mr. Burche moved to lay the amendment on the table,
