Ordered, That the Committee on Claims have leave to sit
during the sessions of this House.

On motion of Mr. Poole,

(The rules being further suspended,)

Leave was granted the Committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill to extend the time of collectors in the State to
complete their collections for State and county taxes.

On motion of Mr. Neilson,
(The rules being yet further suspended,)

Ordered, That 1,000 copies of Dr. Higgin's Report be
printed in the German language.

Mr. Bishop submitted the following

RESOLUTION:

WHEREAS, There are in the Columbia Institute for the Ed-
ucation of Deaf and Dumb Persons, located in Washington
city, D. C., certain pupils, named respectively Mary Jane,
David, Malinda, Sarah B. and Lucretia Blair, all of the State
of Maryland;

AND WHEREAS, The present laws of Maryland do not di-
rect or authorize any part of the appropriation made by the
State for the benefit of Maryland pupils in that Institute to
be expended for clothing for any of said pupils ;

AND WHEREAS, The said pupils do not possess the means of
defraying such expenses; therefore,

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, Thai the
Treasurer, upon the warrant of the Comptroller, be author-
ized and directed to pay the clothing bills of said pupils to an
