Also, (the rules being suspended) presented the memorial
of Lefevre Jarrett and others praying an appropriation by the
State of Maryland for the erection^ of a suitable building
for the deaf and dumb,

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

On motion of Mr; Carmichael,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
report a bill to repeal section 24 of Article 47 of the Code of
Public General Laws, entitled "Inheritance," and to re-enact
the same, with an amendment.

On motion of Mr. Boswell,

Leave was granted to the Commitee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to incorporate the Potomac Fire Insurance
Company of Baltimore.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the bill entitled, an
Act to appropriate a sum of money to pay George W. Mor-
gan, David Clark and the heirs of James G. Alnutt, Tobacco
Commissioners.

Also, the bill entitled, an Act to compensate David C.
Blackson and J. W. Bryant for services rendered the State in
prosecuting in the cases of State vs. Wm. B. Paca and Sons
for the murder of John B. Paca, W. and Alfred Jones,

Which were severally read a fij st time and referred to the
Committee on Claims.

Also, the bill entitled, an Act to repeal section eight of
Article thirty of Public General Laws, entitled "Crimes and
Punishments," and to re-enact the same, with amendments,
extending the provisions of said section to Somerset, Alle-
gany, Washington, Anne Arundel, Frederick, Harford,
Prince George's, Baltimore, Talbot, Coroline, Cecil and
Worcester counties.

Which, was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on the Judiciary.

Also, returned the bill entitled, an Act to remodel the
charter of the Union Orphan Asylum of Baltimore city, en-
dorsed, "passed by yeas and nays."

Also, delivered the bill entitled, an Act to authorize and
require the State Treasurer on the warrant of the Comptrol-
ler to pay the court coats in the various suits instituted or
pending in the courts of this State, and the Supreme Court
of the United States, to test the validity of the Registry law,

Which was read a first time and referred to the Committee
on the Judiciary.
