in the opening of a public road through their lands;

Mr. Devecmon, from Select Committee, reported favorably
a bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Oakland Lumber
Manufacturing and Mining Company.

Mr. Kerr, from Select Committee, reported favorably a
bill entitled, an Act to amend and re-enact section 3 of Arti-
cle 98, of the Code of Public General Laws entitled, Wild
Fowl, so as to legalize the shooting from sink boats by the
residents of Hooper's Island, in Dorchester county, over the
waters adjacent thereto;

Which were severally read a first time.

Mr. Bishop, from Select Committee made the following re-
port :

To the Honorable,

The General Assembly of Maryland:

The committee to whom was referred the matter of the pur-
chase of "Fort Frederick," in Washington county.

Beg leave to report that they have ascertained the price at
which it can be purchased by the State, and that the terms
are such that your committee cannot recommend its purchase.

Your committee, therefore, ask to be released from any
further action in the matter.

Mr. Davis, from Select Committee reported favorably a bill
entitled, an Act to relieve the owners of certain fishing shores
on the Potomac river by repealing section 14, of Article 41,
of the Public General Laws, relating to Fisheries on the Po-
tomac river, and enacting in Hew thereof the provisions of
the laws in relation thereto, as they stood under the Act of
1854, chapter 172, section 3, and prior to the Act of 1860,
chapter 104, section 2;

Which was read a first time and referred to the Committee
on the Judiciary.

The resolutions authorizing the appointment of Commis-
sioners to survey and estimate the cost of building a railroad
from Baltimore city to Drum Point in Calvert county.

Were read a second time and passed by yeas and nays as
