Also, the petition of citizens of Dorchester county, praying
the incorporation of the Little Choptank and Nanticoke Steam
Navigation Company, and to authorize the Commissioners of
said county to take stock in said company;
Which were read and referred to the Dorchester and Caro-
line county delegations.
Mr. King presented the petition of George H. Pocock and
others, praying that Mellville Chapel, at Elk Ridge Land-
ing, may be exempt from taxation;
Which was read and referred to the Howard and Anne
Arundel county delegations.
On motion of Mr. Burche,
Ordered, That the President of the Baltimore and Poto-
mac Railroad Company report to this House the names of the
stockholders in the said road who are citizens of Washing-
ton, the amount of stock subscribed for by each and the date ,
of their subscription.
On motion of Mr. Turner,
Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal that Mr.
Kraft is absent from his seat on account of sickness 'in his
family.
On motion of Mr. Turner,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Neilson, Ford, Hooper, Kerr,
and Bamford to introduce a bill requiring all agents repre-
senting foreign Insurance Companies in this State to pay a
tax into the Treasury pro rata with local Insurance Compa-
nies, and requiring all agents to settle losses without refer-
ence to the parent offices, and prohibiting the Comptroller
from issuing a license to any agent of a foreign company
without an exhibition of authority from the home office to
pay losses.
On motion of Mr. Bamford,
Leave was granted the Committee on Claims to report a
bill entitled, an Act supplementary to Acts of February 3,
1865, chapter 33, and March 14, 1865, chapter 106, relating
to payment of bounties to the heirs of deceased soldiers.
On motion of Mr. Ford,
Leave was granted the Committee on Corporation to bring
in a bill to incorporate the Dry Dock and Warehouse Com-
pany.
On motion of Mr. Devecmon,
Leave was granted to the Allegany County delegation to
report a bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the Oakland Lum-
ber Manufacturing and Mining Company.
