land, thirty-four thousand four hundred and fifty dollars in
payment of the premium received on the sale of $600,000 of
six per cent. 5-20 bonds of the United States sold at various
times, interest account. For so doing, this shall be your
warrant. Given under my hahd, at the office of the Comp-
troller of the Treasury Department, in the city of Annapolis,
on this third day of August, A. D. 1864.

thirty-four thousand four hundred and fifty dollars in pay-

Mr. Clarke presented a petition of Jas. L. Davis, and four-
teen other citizens of Frederick county, praying a law to pro-
tect employers against hirelings;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Welch presented a petition of Wm. A. Vickers, Sara'1
W. Spencer and sixty-six others, to incorporate the Chester
town Reading Room and Library Association;

Which was read and referred to the Kent and Queen Anne's
delegation.

Mr. Wilson presented a petition from the citizens of the
town of Havre de Grace, Harford county, respectfully peti-
tioning for the passage of a supplement to the Act of incorpo-
ration of said town, authorizing their Commissioners to grade
and curb such streets as they think necessary;

Which was read and referred to the Harford County del-
egation.

Mr. Neale presented a petition of Jno. R. Emory, Augus-
tus McCabe and 120 other citizens of Queen Anne's county,
against the passage of the Boom Bill;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. Button presented a petition of sundry persons asking
