"After thereading of the proceedings of the preceding day,
the following shall be the order of business ;"
Which was read and adopted.

Mr. Henkle moved a reconsideration of the vote on the
adoption of the fifth rule;

Determined in the negative.

The sixth rule was then read and adopted.

Mr. Vickers moved a reconsideration of the vote on the
adoption of the sixth rule ;

Determined in the affirmative.

Mr. Compton submitted the following as an amendment to
the sixth rule:

After the words "third reading," insert "when in order,
the Secretary shall announce the bills ready for a second and
third reading, by their title and the orders of the day.''

Determined in the negative.

The President of the Senate submitted the following amend-
ment to the sixth rule :

"Strike out the number of the sixth rule;"
Determined in the affirmative.

The President of the Senate submitted the following
as the sixth rule:

"When the regular order for bills on the second and third
reading shall come up, the titles of all such bills shall first
be announced seriatim by the clerk, unless otherwise ordered
by the Senate ;"

Which was adopted.

Mr. Bowie then submitted the following as a substitute for
rule seven :

"The order of the day shall be taken up for consideration at
the hour designated, but may be postponed by the action of
the Senate for the purpose of considering other matters of
legislation before the Senate;"

The question on the adoption of the substitute,
Was determined in the affirmative.
The eight rule was then read and adopted.
The ninth rule was then read and adopted.
The tenth rule was then read and adopted.
The eleventh rule was then read and adopted.
The twelfth rule was then read and adopted.
The thirteenth rule was then read and adopted.
