Mr. Knott, from the Committee on the Judiciary, re-
ported favorably a bill entitled, an Act for the relief of The-
rese Caroline Meister, of Baltimore city ;

Mr. Whiteford, from Select Committee, reported favorably
a bill entitled, an Act to repeal section 20 of Article 96, of
the Code of Public General Laws entitled, "Weights and
Measures," and to re-enact the same with an amendment;

Mr. Lindsey, from a Select Committee, reported favorably
a bill entitled, an Act to incorporate Harmony Lodge No,
53, of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons ;

Which were severally read a first time.

Mr. Magruder, from a Select Committee, reported favora-
bly, without amendment, the bill entitled, an Act authoriz-
ing the County Commissioners of Prince George's county to
dispose of the present Almshouse and to purchase or build an
other ;

On motion of Mr. Jones,

The House proceeded to the consideration of bills entitled
to a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled, an Act to repeal the following sec-
tions of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Crimes and
Punishments," to wit, sections 69, 70, 71 and 72, subtitle
"importing convicts or slaves ;" sections 75 and 77, subtitle
"incendiary and obscene publications ;" sections 9i, 95, 96
and 97, sub-title "kidnapping;" section 128; sub-title "mar-
rying unlawfully; section 141; sub-title "murder," sections
146, 147, 148, 149, and 150, sub-title "negroes;" sections 153
and 154, sub-title "passes to negroes;" section 168, sub-title
"religious meetings;" sections 174, 175, 176, and 177, sub-
title "runaways."

Was then read a third time and passed by yeas and nays
as follow :
