On motion of Mr. Whiteford,

Ordered, that Mr. Spicer be granted leave of absence until
Wednesday next;

Mr. Baker offered the following:

Ordered, That this House endorse the vote of Hon, Reverdy
Johnson, yesterday on the Reconstruction bill; which,

On motion of Mr. King,

Was posponed until Wednesday 27th inat. at 1 o'clock.
Mr. Baker, (the'rules being suspended,)

Presented the petition of A. F. Crane and others in favor
of State Assylum for the Deaf and Dumb;

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Baker, King and
Davis, of Charles, Neilson and Lindsey.

Mr. Clarke, (the rules being considered further suspended),
presented the petition of G. Mitchell and 40 other citizens
against the passage of an Act preventing stock running at
large;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Burche offered the following:

Ordered, That it is unnecesary and impolitic for this House
to use the time, which ought be devoted to legitimate legisla-
tion, by entertaining orders and resolutions endorsing the
course of public men in Congress; which,

On motion of Mr. Ford,
Was laid on the table.
On motion of Mr. Bixler,

Leave was granted the Committee on Education to report
a bill entitled, an Act to alter and amend an Act, entitled, an
Act to add a new Article to the Code of Public General
Laws to be entitled, "Public Inetruction," providing a uni-
form system of Free Public Schools for the State of Mary-
land, and to repeal all existing laws inconsistent therewith,
passed at January session, 1865.
