The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Hammond.

Present at the call of the Roll the following members:

Messrs. Miller,!Speaker, Morgan, Welch, Williams, Ciarke,
Cameron, Ford, Shipley, Nicolai, Davis, of Charles, Jump,
Dennis, Kerr, Ltndsey, Calvert, Rouzer, Baker, Linthicum,
Gorsucji, Steiner, Bamford, Tobey, Hoffhine, Bishop, Hutton,
Burche, Turner, Coleman, Neilson, Smith, Flaherty, Robson,
Hooper, [Israel, Knott, Stevens, Kraft, Boswell, Thomson,
Davis, of Baltimore city, Waltemeyer, Feig, Bixler, Pitts,
Aydelott, Gordy, Nelson, Whiteford, Wilson, Spicer, McCal-
ley, MeCulloh, Brydon, Carmichael, Neale, Benton, Wamp-
ler, Gore, Dawson, King, Hammond—56.

The Journal of yesterday was read and approved.
On motion of Mr.' Jump,

Ordered, That this House adjourn at 2 o'clock this day, and
stand adjourned to Monday next at 12 o'clock M., and that
we hold night Sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
of same week;

On motion of Mr. Gorsuch,

Ordered, That Mr. Bruce have leave of absence for a few
days to visit his family;

Mr. Bixler offered the following:

Ordered, That the State Printer be directed to furnish as soon
as practicable, 5000 copies of the report of the Sup't of Pub. In-
struction in the English Language and 2000 in German, for the
use of the General Assembly, and that the remaining 15000
copies in English and 3000 in German be delivered in pack-
ages to the State Superintendent to be distributed by him as
follows: 1000 copies in English and 300 in German for the
office of the State Board of Education, the balance to the
Boards of School Commissioners of the city of Baltimore and
the several counties in proportion to the number of schools in
said city and counties; whijh

On motion of Mr. King,
Was laid on the table.
Mr. Aydelott offered the following:

Ordered, That the Committee on Education, or a majority
of them, be and hereby are authorized and directed to visit
the State Normal School, to examine the course of instruction
pursued, report its condition and what if any legislation is
