Mr. Baker presented the petition of Rev. A. M. Kester and
others, to have a deed legalized and recorded;

Which was read and referred to the Committtee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Knott presented the memorial of Hon. John C. King,
Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Baltimore city, pray-
ing for the creation of a new court in Baltimore city;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Lindsey presented the petition of Charles M. Ellis, J.
R. Brown and twenty-two other citizens of the third Election
District of Cecil county, praying the passage of an Act au-
thorizing and requiring the County Commissioners to close a
certain ford on Big Elk Creek, in said county;

Which was read and referred to the Cecil delegation.

Mr. Robson presented the petition of the citizens of Balti-
more in favor of the modification of the Sunday Law; :

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
Sunday Law.

Mr. Gorsuch presented the petition of Samuel L. Geisinger
and other citizens of Frederick county, asking for the repeal
of sections 49 and 74, of Article 81 of the Code of Public
General Laws, and the re-enactment of the same;

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

The Speaker laid before the House the following statement
transmitted by the Comptroller, in response to an order of the
House:

ANNAPOLIS, February 20th, 1867.

Speaker of the House of Delegates:

SIR :—In obedience to an order passed by the House on the
15th instant, requesting me to inform your Honorable Body
what amount of money the State owes to the Tobacco Fund,
I have the honor to report that the account between the State
and the Tobacco Warehouses, known as the "Tobacco Ware-
house Fund," ceased to exist as a distinct fund in 1834, hav-
ing been consolidated by resolution No. 38, of the General
Assembly of that year, with the other funds of the State,
into a general "Sinking Fund."

Upon examination, however, I find that in May, 1853, the
Treasurer of Maryland, in response to an order of the Sen-
