quiring the State Superintendant of Public Schools, to report
directly to the Legislature, at its regular sessions.

On motion by Mr. Mules,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill entitled, an Act to amend the Code of
Public Laws in such manner as shall order the better regula-
tion of the Public Schools of the city of Baltimore, and estab-
lish the Floating School of Baltimore city, as an institution
for the benefit of the State of Maryland.

On motion by Mr. Mules,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the Atlantic
Fire and Marine Insurance Company of Baltimore.

On motion by Mr. Maddox,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to change the Judiciary system of the
State.

On motion by Mr. Vickers,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill entitled, an Act to repeal the tenth
section of Article eleven, of the Code of Public General Laws,
and to prescribe in lieu thereof an oath for attorneys' at law ;

Mr. Waters, from the Committee on Corporations, re-
ported favorably a bill entitled, an Act, empowering the
Wellersburg and West Newton Plank Road Company of
Pennsylvania, to use and occupy a road purchased by them
from the Cumberland and Somerset Turnpike Road Company
in this State, upon proper conditions and under certain re-
striction ;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Waters, from the Committee on Corporations, re-
ported favorably, a bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the
Maryland Hotel Company, in the city of Annapolis ;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Waters, from the Committee on Corporations, to which
was referred the bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the Good
Intent Lodge, No. 99, of the Independent Order of Odd Fel-
lows, of Somerset county ;

Reported it without amendment.
The bill was then read a second time.

Mr. Waters, from the Committee on Corporations, to which
was referred the bill entitled, an Act to incorporate the Bal-
timore Chrome Works;
